Nearly two-thirds of Londoners support the decision to beef up the congestion charge for gas guzzlers, a poll has revealed.

The IPSOS-MORI survey of more than 1,000 residents showed 61% support Ken Livingston’s decision to charge £25 a day for the most polluting vehicles.

Just 29% oppose the changes, which were announced in February and come into force in October.

An even higher percentage support the 100% discount for clean vehicles and 65% said the Mayor’s package of measures for congestion charging was good for London.
