Stetfield Separators - STETbio SAF

News Release

Stetfield Separators - STETbio SAF
The STETbio SAF units are Submerged Biological Aerated Filters, designed and built by Stetfield Separators.

These units have demonstrated to be highly efficient for the treatment of sewage and other wastewaters. The STETbio SAF will meet stringent consent standards with minimum sludge production.

Units have a proven record of performance including:

  • Effluent quality better than 10: 15: 5 (BOD: SS: NH4+-N) can be applied with standard single reactor and settlement
  • Higher effluent qualities including BNR attained by variation to the design or inclusion of ancillary equipment
  • Completely mixed sections impart resistance to shock loads and achieve a comparability to plug-flow systems

  • With the exception of an externally located low-pressure air blower, there are no moving parts. By utilising a structured biological media, the need for complex backwashing has been eliminated although random media can be supplied.

Flexibility of the STETbio SAF is a big attraction. The system can be applied to any size application; tanks may located above or below ground, supplied in Stainless Steel, steel, GRP or the internal parts simply installed into concrete chambers.

Packaged mobile systems also available. The STETbio SAF can be supplied as part of a single package with integrated primary and final settlement. Settlement tanks equipped with stilling chamber, scum baffle and effluent collection launder. Settled humus sludge is automatically removed via the airlift pump.

Benefits of the STETbio SAF include:

  • Simple top removable diffusers or retractable bottom diffusers
  • Air-scouring option with manual or automatic operation
  • Co-flow, counter-flow or co-counter-flow options
  • Multi-section cell arrangements designed to prevent short-circuiting of flows
  • Top access for emptying/sludge removal
  • Diffused aeration positioned under media
  • Aeration and flow velocities promote suspension and cycling of detached biomass
  • Special '2-Side-Fit' doubles plant loading capability within a single reactor
  • SAF Bio-cell Modules to retrofit into existing tanks
  • Can be supplied with integral screening and settlement
  • Form 2 and 4 control system options to meet specific water company requirements and WIMES
  • Ancillary plant including preliminary treatment, sludge thickening, nutrient or chemical addition, DAF and filtration available

  • STETbio SAF processing abilities include:

  • Roughing Filter i.e.
High-rate treatment for sludge liquor return
    Industrial effluent downstream of DAF
  • Secondary Treatment:
    BOD removal to stipulated consent
  • Full Nitrification e.g.
    Integrated secondary and nitrifying treatment
    Highly compact tertiary treatment
  • BNR utilising Anaerobic and Anoxic stages
