19 February 2010 IRT Consult Ltd uses unique Infrared Camera to identify Methane and VOC LeaksNews Release The camera is specifically designed to operate in the mid wave sector of the infrared spectrum where VOC gases are visible. The camera has been laboratory tested to detect the following gases: Traditionally these gases was detected using handheld or fixed detectors which could only indicate the presence of the gas, whereas IRT Consult can now show the leak on video in real time. To detect relevant leaks, IRT Consult uses the unique Gas FindIR™ infrared camera that traces and visualises about twenty Volatile Organic Compound gases including methane. The camera instantly shows gas leaks, visualised in black or white smoke in the camera viewfinder, for compliance and/or reporting the video of the leak is recorded for presentation to the client. The camera can survey large areas in a fraction of the time currently taken using traditional methods. The survey process is not intrusive and scanning of the survey area can be undertaken without any interference with the day to day running of your facility. The camera can be used to identify leaks across a wide range of industries such as: In large facilities there may be many thousands of potential leak paths, some may be leaking but most will not be. In using the leak detection service provided by IRT Consult, you can have a survey completed in a fraction of the time currently been taken by traditional equipment. The camera allows components to be scanned at a distance without the requirement to erect vast quantities of scaffolding in order to allow access for traditional sniffers. The camera can be used at any time during the process cycle and has proven to be invaluable during plant start up as part of the start up Safety controls.
