9 June 2009 Carbon footprinting in focus at Sustainable Business![]() Chairing the sessions at Sustainable Business - the Event Simon Miller from carbon consultancy Best Foot Forward said his company was witnessing a growing trend for corporations to internalise their carbon accounting rather than hiring in outside help. Will Temple-Smith of the Carbon Trust outlined how the body has developed modelling tools to allow businesses to account for the carbon in their products. Ian Walsh, head of environment at Cadbury-Schweppes, provided a case study of how his company was choosing to calculate its carbon and explaining how footprinting is not an ends in itself but should instead be used as a tool for making actual improvements in environmental performance. Peter Walsh, business development manager from First Climate, spoke about how his company worked with communities in the developing world to generate carbon credits while co-ordinating with carbon traders in the industrialised west.
