The awards were set up seven years ago to recognise innovation and excellence in recycling and are split into 14 categories.

This year there are new awards for the best innovation in developing markets, best partnership between a local authority and community groups, best retail recycling initiative, best example of commitment to health and safety and a lifetime achievement award.

All entries must be received by Friday, July 29.

The awards are open to any organisation, community group or company that is involved in recycling and entries should reflect achievements over the past 18 months.

The awards are judged by industry professionals and the winners will be announced at a black tie gala dinner at The Ponds Forge Centre in Sheffield on 25 October, following the opening day of the annual Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) conference, which takes place at Sheffield City Hall on 25 and 26 October.

Details on how to enter can be found at the National Recycling Awards website.
