Due to be finished in November the Premier Inn Burgess Hill, West Sussex, boosts the latest in green building technology.

Edie.net was given a guided tour of the site by Whitbread’s head of energy and environment, Chris George last Friday (September 17).

Premier Inn has more than 40,000 rooms across the UK, and believes the market can take up to 70,000 before it’s ‘saturated’.

But, new builds will now feature green technology such as ground source heat pumps, recycled glass insulation and energy saving light bulbs.

This according to Mr George is why the Burgess Hill Hotel, the second and most comprehensive green build by the chain, will be the basis for long term green building by Whitbread.

And, will form a crucial part of the firm’s plans to reduce its carbon emissions in line with the CRC scheme.
