Business bans for recycling firm

A Devonshire-based recycling firm could find itself on the rubbish pile after three of its directors were banned from running a company within months of one another.

Roger Baker became the third director of Devon Dismantling & Recycling (DDR) to be subject to an injunction, when a 14-year ban imposed by the Insolvency Service, commenced yesterday (September 27).

Baker’s order means the trio – including his two business partners – have collectively accumulated bans totalling more than 26 years.

The Insolvency Service took Baker to court after finding him in breach of a nine-year bankruptcy restriction order imposed in 2006, preventing him from managing a company, last week.

A spokesman for the service said after the hearing: “In fact, the 2006 order had been issued following further breaches of bankruptcy legislation by Baker, when he was found to acquire significant credit from four different trade suppliers without disclosing his status as an un-discharged bankrupt.

“The 14-year ban imposed on Baker is one year short of the maximum term possible, and prevents him from becoming involved in the promotion, formation or management of a company for the duration of the term.”
