The system, for which a marketing drive will get underway next week, has been developed by ManageCO2.

The firm says simplifications to the Government’s Carbon Reduction (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme and a gap in the market for an in all one approach to energy management prompted the creation of the system.

The software, which is cloud based meaning users includes the UK’s first all-in-one solution for carbon and energy management, which tracks and reports organisations’ energy consumption and carbon footprint every 15 minutes at a granular level.

This allows companies to identify high usage areas, such as data centres, lighting or specific areas within buildings, and to instantly calculate and validate the return on investment for areas of energy reduction.

Ireland-based ManageCO2’s managing director, Adrian Fleming, said businesses are ‘fed up’ with spending vast sums on an energy management system only to find they need to buy another system to cope when new legislation come in.

Mr Fleming said: “Originally we were not going to launch in the UK until later, but the simplifications to the CRC meant it was much easier to adapt our software to the UK.

“There was also the gap in the market for a system which dealt with all aspects of energy management and took into account legislation like the CRC.

“But the key to the system is the ease of use and as far as we can tell it is the only all-in-one system available in the UK market place at the moment.

“Managing and reporting carbon and energy usage in a viable and transparent way is key in today’s carbon constrained economy, and we’re really excited about helping UK businesses to do this as we have done so successfully in Ireland.”

The simple and easy-to-use software tracks and reports an organisation’s carbon footprint across all of its facilities internationally.

The software combines true Enterprise Carbon Management with wireless energy monitoring allowing companies to accurately identify high usage areas across multiple facilities, such as data centres, machinery and buildings.

And then instantly calculates and validate the return on investment for areas of energy and carbon reduction.
