Plans submitted for Lancashire energy recovery plant

The proposals, to be considered by Lancashire County Council, scope out a plant and commercial waste recycling operation, which will create up to 50 jobs when fully operational.

It is the first of a number of energy recovery projects planned by Reform Energy across the Northwest and will generate up to 10MW of electricity using up to 80,000 tonnes of recovered waste material.

Locating the plant alongside a recycling operation will also reduce the amount of traffic required to transport waste material. Plans also include a visitor centre and learning zone.

A Reform Energy spokesperson said: “The energy recovery plants are designed to use recycled waste material from commercial sources, and each one is tailored to its specific location.”
