Mud filled water poured across the busy railway line today (August 1) forcing the the cancellation of most train services south of East Croydon.

A spokesman for Southern said: “Network Rail engineers are onsite and have begun to clear the least affected lines so that we can introduces services as soon as possible. We will update you as soon as we receive more information.”

He added that replacement buses were being arranged, but advised people to use different routes.
