SWR secures deal for Metropolitan Police vehicle waste

Dry and hazardous waste created from the repair of Metropolitan Police vehicles is to be managed by SWR, who has won a contract with the support services arm of Babcock's emergency and critical services division.

The deal will save mobile assets firm Babcock in the region of 15% on its current waste disposal costs, with all waste managed under a single contract. SWR will also provide regular reporting on waste and recycling statistics to support Babcock’s environmental policy.

Babcock’s environment manager Bob Harrison said that the consolidated service would have a hugely positive impact at an operational level as the company now only has to deal with one supplier.

He added: “It also has benefits at a strategic level as we are now able to clearly demonstrate responsible waste disposal and recycling.”

SWR’s head of business development, Richard Brown claimed that his firm was the only waste management company with services designed specifically for the automotive sector.

He said: “We will draw on this expertise in supporting Babcock to maximise their recycling and minimise the carbon footprint accruing from their waste.”
