Virgin boss says ‘screw business as usual’

Business superstar Richard Branson is calling on entrepreneurs to put environmental and social issues at the core of their business models and take part in a global competition to become a "force for good".

As part of the ‘screw business as usual’ initiative, Mr Branson is encouraging ethical businesses to look at challenges to the planet, people and profit “in a brand new entrepreneurial way”.

Mr Branson added: “Never has there been a more exciting time for all of us to explore this great next frontier where the boundaries between work and purpose are merging into one, where doing good, really is good for business.”

As part of the competition, entries can be presented as a short video or written pitch, which includes a story or brief description of a business or social enterprise in action that inspires a new way of creating demand for better products or services.

The winner will have the opportunity to meet frontline leaders who are making a difference and share ideas at the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship in South Africa, as well as gaining invaluable business advice from Mr Branson himself.

The deadline for entries is April 17 and more information can be found here
