The project, which is due to complete early next year, will also increase capacity at the site and forms part of a wider investment strategy that is currently seeing £3m per week invested in water and wastewater services throughout Northern Ireland.
NI Water project manager John McGrane said: “The new plant at Tamnaherin will benefit the local community by improving wastewater services in the area. The modern new processes being installed will increase the capacity of the treatment works to accommodate development in the area for the foreseeable future and will bring about environmental improvements, ensuring that wastewater treatment in the locality meets Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) compliance standards.”
