Hospitality industry aims to improve waste management

The British Hospitality Association (BHA) has joined forces with Specialist Waste Recycling (SWR) in a bid to improve the management of the sector's waste streams.

As part of the new partnership, SWR will provide businesses in the hospitality industry with tailored waste management schemes to help them better manage and reduce their waste streams.

It is anticipated this will help BHA members, including hotels, restaurants and food service providers, gain access to the latest waste management equipment, such as a glass crushing machine which reduces waste volume by 80%.

SWR chief executive Giles Whiteley, said: “Teaming up with the BHA was a very logical step. Government pressure on the hospitality industry to improve its green credentials this year will put waste and recycling even higher up the agenda, and SWR is in a very good position to help hospitality companies achieve the targets that will be set.”
