The business operates a materials recycling facility (MRF) and a fleet of 29 vehicles which will be integrated into Viridor’s northern region, complementing the commercial collection services of Viridor’s Trafford Park operation.

Viridor already provides services to some of Manchester’s biggest brands including MediaCityUK, Manchester United and Kelloggs. The acquisition will allow Viridor to widen its areas of operation across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Lancashire.

Commenting on the deal, Viridor’s regional director John Viviani said: “JWT is a quality local recycling and waste management business and offers good synergies with our existing business in the north west.

“The acquisition continues our investment in essential recycling and renewable energy services in the region, such as the construction of the Runcorn energy-from-waste facility alongside our advanced recycling facilities.”
