Sustainability stats: The week in numbers (17/10/14)

What great data did we see in the past seven days? In the third edition of a new series, edie takes a look-back at some of the fascinating figures from the worlds of energy, waste and water.

It was a week highlighted by a ground-breaking new global index, featuring Google, Apple and more, which demonstrated that firms can be carbon conscious and still wildly profitable.

Before that we saw innovative renewable energy schemes in Germany and Scotland, but also an alarming lack of confidence from businesses who are worried about their sustainability skillsets.

Finally the week was capped off by former Environment Secretary Owen Paterson’s contentious speech in which he suggested that current energy policy was a strait jacket, and that climate change itself was overblown.

This list rounds up these industry plot lines with illustrative key numbers and accompanying links for each of the big stories in case you missed them.
