Best reputation for EIA/SEA……..

Impact assessments were identified by most consultancies as an area of rapid growth and, as can be seen from this graph, there is clearly a lot of competition for the consultancy with the best reputation in this field.

Yet again, Atkins just wins it from Environ UK, but there are healthy results from Enviros, ERM, Entec and the RPS Group.

The rapid growth in this area reflects the fact that impact assessments are now a pre-requisite for almost any large projects. Companies and developers want the assurance of a verified third-party assessment to assure the public that no adverse effects will be felt from their business.

Rather than just the physical environmental impacts of old, consultancies are reporting a rapid rise in assessments of health and social impacts for the projects they work on and ERM now recruit social anthropologists and planners to assess the wider community impacts of projects they are working on.

With strong performances from several key players, it is clear that assessments such as these will continue to have a strong impact on the future performance of all consultancies.
