Austria’s Land Oberösterreich, a regional government that manages land within its province, tried to seek compensation for the problems that increased levels of radiation would pose to the operations of an agricultural college it manages.

If the nuclear facility had been in Austria, there are clear processes that could have been followed to apply for compensation.

But the European Court of Justice ruled against the Austrian application, saying that the Czech authorities had followed all necessary pan-European procedures to the letter and the facility was legally sited.
