The new two stream semi-automated recycling unit has been operating successfully with contractors and municipalities in the United States for almost ten years, Heil reports. A split container on both sides of the body allows the simultaneous separation and loading of recyclables into the body chambers from either side.

The Euro-Cycler has a body length of 7.7 metres and a capacity of 25.3m3, which is split 11.6m3 in the top compartment and 13.7m3 in the bottom. Cushioned cylinders are designed to ensure a smoother, quieter operation while other benefits cited include Heil’s dual swing link action packing mechanism, which gives minimal glass breakage.

R U Recycling is a subsidiary of E Harper (York) Ltd which has established itself as a forward thinking, innovative recycling business. It specialises in dual stream kerbside collection and processes the commingled glass, cans and plastics stream utilising an Andela Commingled Separation System, a fully automated MRF capable of processing in excess of 20,000 tonnes per year.

R U Recycling is the first company in the UK to use the Heil Euro-Recycler, which it specified to exploit the extra efficiency gained from compacted collections. The company already provides collection services to Blackburn, with Darwen Borough Council, and has ambitious plans for expansion. In addition R U Recycling is also willing to take direct deliveries of commingled glass, cans and plastics from other collectors and authorities.
