Good vibrations hit the road

The Health and Safety Executive and manufacturers' organisation EEF are jointly running a series of roadshows to highlight the risks of noise and vibration in the workplace.

The regional events are aimed at company risk mangers such as managing directors, production managers, health and safety advisors and safety representatives.

They will get a chance to learn about new EU regulations for the control of risks from vibrations which come into force in July 2005, as well as noise regulations which are due to be updated in early 2006.

“Noise and vibration are major health risks for millions of workers throughout Great Britain and the new regulations provide a sound framework for tackling these problems effectively,” said Mike Shepherd HSE’s Noise and Vibration Programme manager.

“The aim of the roadshows is to show employers that these new regulations are quite straightforward and workable. They give us the chance to explain the new regulations in more depth, demonstrate practical solutions and answer questions employers and others may have.”

The regional shows will travel across Great Britain in September and October 2005.
