Experts come out in force to share their knowledge and debate the issues at IWEX

The FREE seminar line-up for IWEX (18-20 October, NEC, Birmingham) has just been announced, and whether you work for a water company, an equipment supplier, a consultancy, or a commercial water user, there's a packed programme on offer.


The 8,000 visitors expected to attend IWEX will be able to learn how Bourne Salads (part of Geest) has cut its use of mains water by 45% and reduced the volume of water discharged by 80%. Also during the Food Manufacture strand of the seminar programme Simon Miller, Envirowise’s Deputy Project Manager, Water Technology List, will outline how the recent inclusion of cleaning in place equipment and membrane systems on the Water Technology List, makes them eligible for enhanced capital allowance support.

As part of the Brewers’ Guardian Seminar sessions, John Brauer, Project Manager, Brewing Research International will outline how brewers can reduce their cost base and improve their environmental performance. There will also be a chance to share the experiences of Mike Lunney, Senior Brewer at leading regional brewer, George Gale & Co Ltd.

Engineering developments will be put under the spotlight in a special seminar session supported by New Civil Engineer. Here, Steve Kaye, Head of Research & Innovation at Anglian Water, together with a prestigious panel of experts drawn from Mott Macdonald, Thames Water, MJ Gleeson and MWH will explore what engineering innovation could really deliver to the water industry.

Hot topics abound in the water sector, and few are hotter than sustainable development. The water and wastewater issues raised by sustainable development will be debated during a special panel-based discussion. Chaired by Dr Ian Pallett, Technical Director of British Water, the panel will also include Nick Reeves, Executive Director of CIWEM, Alex Stephenson, General Manager UK, Hydro International plus Mike Froud of Copa. Similarly a panel-based debate, hosted by Water UK will focus on innovation.

· The show will feature a paid for symposia delivered by The School of Water Sciences of Cranfield University

· IWO will host free seminars on Mentoring

· CIWEM will provide free ‘ taster sessions’ of its PEM+ course.

· A special Product Demonstration Theatre will showcase new technologies

· A new Advice Zone will feature experts from Simmons and Simmons, The Environment Agency and UKTI.
