The Urban Regeneration Company (URC) will be formed from the merger of Catalyst Corby URC and North Northants Together and will amalgamate effort, resources, and expertise in order to carry on the regeneration work already taking place.

It will be funded by English Partnerships, East Midlands Development Agency, ODPM and five local authorities as well as having a strong private sector representation on its board.

Richard Lay, co-Chair of Catalyst Corby said: “We believe this merger will promote a co-ordinated approach to the expansion of North Northamptonshire and ensure the whole area benefits from the expertise and experience gained in Corby. The continued delivery of the Regeneration Framework for Corby will remain paramount and, we believe, expedited by the greater focus and increased opportunities the larger body will bring.”

North Northants is set to build 52,100 new homes by 2021. A public consultation on the merger proposals will be launched in the next few weeks.
