Institute advises on energy savings

Among the events on offer at the Nemex show at Birmingham's NEC next week is a series of seminars from the Energy Institute, looking at ways to cut energy consumption, slashing the bills and emissions - something that all businesses can benefit from.

All three seminars take place on the morning of Tuesday, May 16, the first day of the show and will be presented by Trevor Floyd IEng MEI.

From 10.30am the Trevor will be looking at effective energy management for energy savings.

The session will provide an introduction to energy use and efficiency, and will help delegates understand and quantify the actual use of energy, providing tips on reducing costs and CO2 emissions whilst complying with increasing legislation.

At 11.15am he will be taking a more in depth look at energy efficiency in buildings, with the seminar aiming to introduce the concept of energy efficiency in buildings and provide an overview of recent legislation regarding the energy performance of buildings.

Noon will see the final seminar of the series with Trevor looking at how to get the workforce onside in involving staff in how to cut energy costs.

The discussion will provide delegates with ideas on how to enrol every last member of staff, at every level, with the principles of managing energy consumption to empower staff and introduce the concept that all staff members can function as energy managers in their own individual way.

The Energy Institute is the only chartered professional membership body exclusively for the energy industry.

Providing a home for energy professionals and a reservoir of knowledge for the industry, the EI offers a range of products and services to support career development.
