The economies of scale and other obstacles hinder access to recycling services for small businesses . In an effort to address this WRAP has launched an open tender to find organisations prepared to replicate existing successful schemes.

WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme) wants to hear from businesses, local authorities and other organisations which can provide convenient and cost effective recycling services to SMEs.

The four specific areas it is looking at are a multi-material recycling service with an emphasis on offices and business parks, a service for glaziers and window fitters to recycle glass and frames, a glass container recycling service for the catering and hospitality sector and a city centre cardboard and paper recycling service.

The closing date for tender submissions is Tuesday, November 14 2006, 12.30pm and further details on the tender can be found at www.wrap.org.uk/sme.
