More flood woe for UK

Heavy downpours and severe flooding have continued to plague England and Wales as the worst affected areas record twice the monthly average of rainfall in a matter of days.

The South East escaped the brunt of the bad weather but many other areas have experienced serious disruption, damage to property and even tragedy.

A man in his 20s from Hull drowned whilst trying to unblock a drain on his grandfather’s property and thousands have been evacuated from their flooded homes.

Despite the heavy rain, temperatures for June have been above average so far.

Last week the Met Office told Edie that while no single incident could be attributed to climate change, short, sharp storms leading to flash floods were likely to become an increasingly common occurrence.
