Environment minister Arlene Foster spent World Environment Day at the centre, where year five pupils enacted a play entitled Rainforest Drama.

Ms Foster then spoke to the children about their recycling efforts and the ways in which they could help kick the habit of carbon reliance, as per the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) slogan.

“Bryson’s education officers are giving Northern Ireland’s young people an easy and effective guide to protecting our world-renowned environment,” Ms Foster said.

The charity’s education officers visit primary schools across the country to inform youngsters how to manage waste through its Sort it Out programme.

UNEP claims that kicking the CO2 habit can be easy when simple domestic steps are followed, such as using a washing line instead of a tumble drier, which can save some 2.3kg of CO2 a day.
