Clonburris masterplan approved

A masterplan for the development of more than 11,500 new homes in Dublin has been described as a model of "superb planning" by the chairman of the company which approved the plan, reports the Irish Times.

An Bord Pleanala has approved the plan for the homes at Clonburris, west Dublin, which was prepared under the leadership of senior planner Paul Hogan at the South Dublin County Council.

It is estimated that Clonburris could home up to 35,000 people in the future and is envisaged as a new ‘eco district’, due to a range of innovative environmental sustainability measures in the fields of transport, energy use and carbon reduction.

The plan is a part of the Clonburris Strategic Development Zone and is the fourth planning scheme to be approved in Ireland, while being the second in the area of the county council.

Through the granting of the masterplan, it now means that there are no provisions for appeal for applications not granted planning permission at the development.

The first plan in the county council’s area was Adamstown, where permission was granted on July 18th this year for a district centre.
