Mouchel scoops top business innovation award

The consulting and business services group was awarded the Expert Contribution to the Early Stage Investment Market Award for its Water Technology Approval Group (TAG) at the BBAA’s Annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday 8 July 2009.

The Expert Contribution to the Early Stage Investment Market Award acknowledges contribution to development of the early stage industry through new services, products, tools or other initiatives either aimed at investors or businesses. Mouchel’s Water TAG facilitates engagement between early stage business looking for assistance in new product development or breaking in to the market, industry end-users on the look out for novel solutions, and investors seeking new deals.

Andrea Gysin, Head of Technology and Innovation at Mouchel, said: “Most industrial sectors such as the water sector need innovative technologies to drive business performance; whilst we’ve focused primarily on the needs of industry there is often a significant funding challenge for those technology companies at the forefront of research. It is fantastic that the benefits which TAG can bring to bear for early stage businesses and investors have been recognised through this award.”

Mouchel’s water TAG has reviewed over 750 technologies since it was started in November 2005 with some 85 new technologies being formally presented to the water TAG and over 50 now engaged on commercial terms with end-users. To date, technology companies have secured external funding to the value of £39.5 million – more than the total R&D spend by the entire UK water industry during the last five-year AMP cycle.
