Firefighters tackle power station blaze

The New Year got off to a bang at a Kent power station after a blaze in a pump room meant firefighters from across the county were called in.

Firefighting at Kingsnorth Power Station has now been scaled down after reports of a fire at the site at the weekend (January 3).

At its worst 15 crews of firefighters fought the blaze, but the site did not have to be completely evacuated.

After tackling the blaze eight fire crews stayed at the site to check for ‘hotspots’, which is the chance of the fire reigniting at the plant.
