The event, held during IWEX part of Sustainabilitylive! at Birmingham’s NEC last week, sees water workers battle it out in front of cheering crowds.

The event is a team time trial, each team has two contestants one must be connected to the water industry either employed by a water company or contract partner.

Their aim is to ‘drill and tap’ a 150mm-diameter ductile iron main with running water and complete the installation of a simulated service connection.

This year’s winners of the main competition were Balfour Beatty with a winning time of two minutes 24 seconds in a closely fought competition.

Watch the presentations below.

Also this year there were awards for best contractor, again going to Balfour Beatty, best newcomer taken by Daniel, International won by Northern Ireland water.

And, last but definitely not least, the ladies competition taken by Severn Trent Water.
