Businesses gear up for Water Saving Week

Next month will see the return of Water Saving Week, a campaign that seeks to raise awareness of unnecessary water use both in the home and in the workplace.

Now in its second year, the event is supported by regulators, government and industry and aims to focus attention on that often-overlooked resource – water.

This year the campaign is turning to that rhetoritician’s favourite, the three point list, outlining a triumvirate of reasons to save water – to save energy, to save money and to be green.

Businesses are be urged to make a pledge to save water and details can be found on the website www.watersavingweek.org.uk where a pledge to save water can be made.

Visitors to the website can also find a host of water-saving tips for business – many of which are simple to implement and will deliver instant, tangible savings.

Shawn Coles, the founder of the not-for-profit Water Saving Week initiative said: “Climate change, the greenhouse effect and global warming are now on everyone’s agenda.

“However water saving has not had the attention it deserves. Businesses of all types and sizes use water and it is crucial that they think about ways of reducing their impact on the environment through practical and sustainable measures.

“We believe Water Saving Week is a perfect opportunity to do this.”
