Property developers, remediation specialists and groundworks contractors can send contaminated soils for treatment and reuse without incurring landfill tax.

A wide range of industrial contaminants can be treated and re-used at the facility including petrol, diesel, oils and heavy metals.

The centre uses the latest soil treatment technologies and 100% of contaminated soils are re-used and retained on the site, so landfill tax is not applicable.

The methods include physical, biological and chemical treatments and a documented control system ensures that all soils can be tracked through the process until reused as part of the development.

The hub, close to the M20, has been approved by the Environment Agency as a soil treatment centre and is fully compliant with WRAP.

The operating company is Hydrock Contracting Ltd and it says the facility’s advantages include that it can deal with large volumes at rapid a turnaround and has easy access for vehicles.
