Gruig Wind Farm Ltd. was previously owned by RES UK & Ireland Ltd and began commercial operation in 2009.

The wind farm is expected to generate enough electricity to cater for 14,000 households annually.

BNP Paribas Clean Energy Partners invests in construction and operational clean energy infrastructure assets in on-shore wind, solar photovoltaic biomass and small scale hydro power generation in Europe.

The fund is acquiring further wind power generators in France, Spain and Germany.

CEO of the fund, Joost Bergsma, said: “This acquisition complements our previous acquisition in Ireland, and maintains our momentum towards a larger portfolio that we are building in Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic.

“Both Northern Ireland and the Republic are very attractive renewable energy markets for financial investors, featuring strong wind resources, robust support policies, and commitments by both the Irish and the UK governments to realise their respective 2020 renewable energy targets.”

RES will continue to have an operational management role in Gruig.
