Environment and Energy Awards 2011 winners

The energy and environment sectors proved their resilience to the economic downturn as outstanding individuals, organisations and groups were celebrated at the Environment and Energy Awards.


The event, which took place last week in the National Motorbike Museum as part of Sustainabilitylive!, boasted a record number of entries according to the organisers.

Host for the evening was former Olympic medallist and British swimming team captain Steve Parry, famous for being mobbed in China due to his striking resemblance to Michael Phelps.

ESTA Energy Manager of the Year was scooped by Paul Moran of Harper Adams University College.

Environmental Manager of the Year was won by Karen Taylor of Hampshire Cosmetics.

The NQA Environmental Leadership Award for Cultural Change was won by
Commercial and collected by Simon Graham the firm’s environmental strategist.

Best Sustainability Communications Campaign Award, sponsored by Utility Week

Winner: Sheffield City Council

Sustainabilitylive! event director, Donna Bushell, said: “The standard of entries was so high this year that in many cases, choosing the winner was almost impossible.

“Unquestionably, it shows that even when economic conditions have been, and continue to be, very tough companies are continuing to invest in improving sustainability. It is extremely encouraging.”
