Devon fish market installs solar energy system

Brixham Fish Market in Devon has installed a solar energy system to provide low-carbon heating and hot water as part of the site's multi-million redevelopment project.

The project forms part of Torbay Council’s low carbon and renewable energy policy and investment in the harbour redevelopment.

The Andrews Water Heaters system was supplied piping company Pipe Center and installed by specialist contractor Space Engineering Services. It included 17sq m of solar panels, two storage vessels, controls and a system integration package to convert the solar energy to a low-cost and low-carbon hot water for use in the market.

Pipe Center regional sales manager Roger Hoskins, said: “One of the keys with renewable energy projects is to ensure all parts of the system work effectively together – and integrate seamlessly with the overall building system.”
