The company said the indicators were “a work in progress” and confirmed it would be consulting widely on defining their parameters, both within the business and with outside stakeholders.

The indicators will underpin five key pledges the company made back in 2006 to drive water performance throughout its operations.

These include improving water efficiency and treatment, advocating effective policies and stewardship, more effective supplier engagement and raising awareness of water access and conservation.
