Set up by European distribution networks organisation GEODE, of which Mr Smith is also vice-president, the forum aims to aid EU development in smart grids by sharing expertise to feedback to the EU Commission.
Carmen Gimeno of GEODE said: “This group brings together young bright minds from across Europe. David’s expertise and that of the UK networks will complement this very well and help steer these important discussions.”
Mr Smith added: “A smart grid is a vital part of our energy future in the UK, and, as an interconnected Europe. Projects funded by Ofgem’s Low Carbon Networks Fund are helping energy networks in the UK to make a smart grid a reality.”
