In brief: Commercial waste contract news

A social enterprise firm secures a major deal with a Merseyside blue chip client while a specialist collection company wins a significant contract with a care home chain in the south east.

Deloitte, the audit, tax, consulting and corporate finance company, has appointed Bulky Bob’s to collect unwanted office furniture from its Liverpool offices as part of a reuse drive.

Items including desks and chairs will be refurbished by Bulky Bob’s – part of the FRC Group – and redistributed to the wider community.

Angela Payne, senior consultant on the sustainability services team at Deloitte, said: “We have worked with FRC Group in the past so when we were looking for someone to pick up some unwanted office furniture we were pleased to hear they are now running a commercial collection service.”

The new commercial waste service from Bulky Bob’s is aimed to plug a gap in the market, providing an affordable and efficient service for Merseyside businesses.

Meanwhile Care home chain Sunrise Senior Living has chosen specialist collections, clearance and recycling firm Waste King to collect a range of waste – including hazardous materials – from its home in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire.

Waste King’s managing director Glenn Currie said hazardous items included plasterboard and electric bulbs as well as clinical waste.

For its commercial clients, Waste King provides recycling and waste collection services including waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) collections and site waste management plans (SWMP). The company also offers confidential document destruction.
