The new awards scheme, launched in December by edie and sister title LAWR magazine as part of a wider Resource Revolution campaign.

In terms of the awards there are six categories to play for:

Technology Trailblazer: Materials Recovery – this award will recognise a technology-led project which is achieving outstanding material recycling or reprocessing rates while maintaining the highest levels of quality.

Technology Trailblazer: Energy-from-Waste – this award will recognise a technology-led project which is generating maximum energetic conversion efficiency from the waste it is processing through clean-tech innovation.

Waste Collection Logistics Leader – this award seeks to recognise a waste collection strategy that is delivering exceptional efficiencies in fleet, fuel and logistics while materials are in transit.

Landfill Diversion Strategy – this award seeks to recognise a company, local authority, waste partnership or consortium that has exceeded its targets and surpassed all expectations in diverting waste from landfill over the past 12 months.

Closed Loop Exemplar – this award seeks to recognise a game-changing closed loop initiative, partnership or collaboration which is reducing demand for virgin materials or dynamically linking renewable energy supply and consumption.

Beyond Zero Waste Achievement – this award seeks to recognise a pioneering initiative that is centred on more holistic thinking and takes account of the whole lifecycle of waste and minimising its environmental impact, from start-of-life to end-of-life.

We have a top line-up of judges for the awards including WRAP’s director of closed loop economy Marcus Gover, eco-designer Mark Shayler who is spearheading the RSA’s Great Recovery Project, sustainability and e-waste campaigner Julia Hailes MBE and edie’s own waste market editor Maxine Perella.

The awards event itself will be held in central London, 10 May 2013. Stand up and be counted. To enter, go to www.resourcerevolution.net/awards
