Resource efficiency course designed for environmental professionals

Envirowise, IEMA and the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), with support from ENWORKS, have developed a new, accredited Resource Efficiency Course for environmental professionals. A course to improve the consistency and level of competence of environmental professionals when undertaking resource efficiency reviews. The course also contributes to the continuing professional development of both IEMA and CIWM members.

The course is intended for environmental professionals, especially those who have experience of basic environmental auditing and who conduct environmental reviews. By the end of the two-day course a delegate will be able to:

  • conduct a site review
  • identify appropriate sources of existing information
  • opportunities for resource efficiency activities
  • potential liabilities (eg legal/ financial)
  • assess review findings (quantitatively and qualitatively)
  • categorise the opportunities identified
(ie by cost-benefit, legal requirements, business opportunities)
  • prepare an action plan
  • communicate review findings effectively, in writing and verbally
  • communicate business benefits of resource efficiency to the client
  • The course has been piloted by IEMA approved training course providers SEQM, Woodland Grange and Atkins, who also contributed towards the course syllabi and development of the accompanying Envirowise guide (GG477).
