Halcrow Water Services Ltd (HWS) provides consultancy and niche operational services, specialising in the efficient management and operation of water supply and distribution systems.

HWS is a joint venture company, formed in 1995, between Halcrow Group and swan group, the parent company of Mid Kent Water.

Consultancy

Recent projects undertaken by HWS cover a wide range of infrastructure schemes, not only in the water sector but also in the general utilities field. The depth of experience within HWS enables a full appreciation of the client's requirements and the context within which individual projects are procured.

HWS have undertaken projects for several UK utilities including Southern Water, Thames Water, Severn Trent, Anglian Water, South East Water, Rail Link Engineering, Sutton and East Surrey, and Mid Kent Water; other UK clients have included the Environment Agency, Transco, London Underground, private developers and engineering contractors.

Overseas clients have included Limassol Water Board- Cyprus, the Polish National Fund for the Protection of the Environment, and other clients in Ireland, South America, Romania, Malaysia, India, Turkey, Belize, Ecquador, Venezuela, Batam Island.

Additionally, HWS provide engineering support to Halcrow projects such as UK's Channel Tunnel Rail Link, water privatisation in Chile, leakage studies in Argentina and water treatment in Latvia and Poland

Operations

Increasing pressure world-wide on water resources necessitates a more rigorous approach to the management of water supply and distribution. In many areas of the world the water supply infrastructure is either operating at the limits of its capability or the condition of the assets is such that leakage is running at unacceptable levels.

HWS Operations provides clients with the facility to manage and operate their water infrastructure in an efficient and cost effective manner. Capabilities of the division include leakage / Non Revenue Water (NRW) Reduction and operational efficiency studies, with the potential to form joint venture contractual partnerships with clients to assist them with their business needs. In addition, training programmes for client's staff covering many aspects of operational activity can be provided by skilled staff.
