French solution for feeding filter presses

PCM Pompes of France has developed a filter press feeding system guaranteeing optimal operation throughout the different phases of the pressure maintenance cycle. PCM's filter press feed system is suitable for all models: platen filter press, membrane platen filter press and dual feed filter press.


The filter press reduces the volume of products or filters solutions. Its operating cycle comprises two essential phases directly related to upstream pumping: filling, followed by maintenance of pressure at the end of the cycle.

Certain requirements, such as guaranteed filling with a high flow-rate for better control of cycle time, verified flow-rate during the pressure maintenance phase to provide a better filtration quality, or maintenance of the minimum desired flow-rate at the end of the cycle for a better filter cake quality must be complied with.

The Series I pump is particularly well suited for small filter presses. Two Series I pumps are designed for large filter presses and enable a broader flow-rate range to respond to filtering requirements at the beginning of the process (very high flow-rate) and at the end of the cycle (very low flow-rate).

Turnkey installation allows for closed circuit operation throughout the cycle, thereby guaranteeing a shorter pressing cycle than with other pump technology.

The filter press feed can handle most sectors of activity and is frequently used for decontamination installations. During the construction of water treatment stations using a filter press, or when an installation is modernised by the operator, the PCM Moineau pump can offer a cost-effective solution for both urban and industrial sites such as treatment plants, tanneries or paper mills.

Other frequent uses of the filter press are in the beet and cane sugar, starch and flours, oils and fats, the beverage industries. Processing industries in clay and soil, kaolin, ceramics and porcelain, as well as paint shops are other applications.
