ENVIRON announces the opening of first office in Russia
14 January 2010, News release from ENVIRON
12 January 2010 - José Fernandez, President of the European Division of ENVIRON Holdings, Inc. (ENVIRON), is pleased to announce the opening of the firm's first office in Russia.
The establishment of a formal presence in Moscow is a result of ENVIRON's expanding international work in the CIS region and local client requirements.
Fernandez said: "We are delighted to be in a position to extend the global reach of our offices. The new Moscow office is the culmination of many years' work in the region, responding to our international and local clients' needs."
ENVIRON Principal Alan Fowler leads ENVIRON's consultancy work and business development in Russia and the CIS states. He has worked in the region for many years, providing environmental, sustainability and health and safety support to a diverse array of clients including International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), companies in the oil and gas sector, such as Nord Stream AG and Irkutsk Oil Company, and the mining, metals and heavy engineering sectors.
The work includes Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) and Environmental Due Diligence (EDD). According to Fowler, opening this office enables ENVIRON to continue to support clients in the region and to bring further ENVIRON services - including Energy and Carbon Management and REACH support - to them.
Ivan Senchenya, who joins ENVIRON as General Director of the Moscow office, said: "The formalisation of ENVIRON's presence in Russia comes at a time when increased global attention is being placed on many of our local industries, such as oil and gas, mining and manufacturing. IFI funding is an important part of finance in the region.
The new office, combined with ENVIRON's experience with these industries - and global track record with IFI standards such as The Equator Principles - means that we are very well situated to serve clients not only in Russia, but also in the wider CIS region."
