Fire, Acoustic and Thermal Insulation (All three elements in a single application) It has been developed to protect substrates in real time fires and not just to the Cellolosic/Hydrocarbon Curves.
New EC fire profiling has shown that modern day Testing in a Furnace to the cellolosic curve is totally meaningless in real fires, and there is a move underway to construct new testing on a Designer Fire Curve, which will take into effect the amount of combustible material in any given building. Designer Fires have shown that real temperatures reach 1290/1350 degrees C within 10 or eleven minutes and in future fires; buildings will have to be protected against this fact and the steel will have to be protected for four hours. We have undertaken testing with the BRE in the UK to prove that our material can protect structures in such fires; this has been shown to be highly effective.
ASFI have now undertaken Fire Testing on Loaded Timber Frames rated two hours with 50mm of Dendamix and only one Gyproc Board on each side, we have now sprayed steel columns and beams at UL for a four hour test on steel, we can now provide four hour rated insulated masonry walls with a two hour block and 18mm of Dendamix.
The next major issue is the New Noise Abatement Regulations under discussion in the European Parliament; the major market for the next ten years will be Industrial Acoustics, reducing the noise in the work place. This is already a major issue in the some countries; ASFI Spray Insulation has an incredible ability in absorption and stopping the transmission of noise
In regard to Thermal Insulation, we have converted an office complex in Oxfordshire in which there is now no central heating, the conversion is fully insulated with Thermal-Pruf and after five/six years of operation the reduction in electricity bills has been staggering, We also insulated the roof of the first Photo Voltaic House in Oxfordshire.
And last if not least this product is Revolutionary in Marine Terms, it can provide A60 Fire Protection for a deck at 17.5mm, and 45mm for a bulkhead. In terms of comfort insulation for a ship you can reduce the thickness by up to 50% on conventional comfort insulation.
This is the only product that sailed through the Designer Fire Tests carried out at BRE at the higher temperatures and still protected the steel and concrete soffits, from any significant heat rise, even two layers of Gypsum board were completely destroyed within 30 minutes during these tests, the concrete soffits which were two hour rated blew up after 11 minutes, see pictures at www.asfe.co.uk/BREReport.html
