14 August 2006, News release from Andritz Limited
Andritz Limited to supply 3 Water Treatment Plants in Northern Ireland with Fully Automatic Membrane Filter Presses for Sludge Dewatering
International Technology Group Andritz have received an order from Dalriada Water Limited consortium for 5 Membrane Filter Presses and ancillary equipment for Water Treatment Plants at Ballinrees, Castor Bay and Dunore Point. These plants will be unique as they will be the first in the UK to utilize the patented Andritz fully automated filter presses.
The Dalriada Water consortium is comprised of Earth Tech, Kelda Group, and Farrans.
The project is worth £3.1 million (approx. ¬4.5million) to the Andritz Group out of a total capital investment program in Northern Ireland of £110 million (approx ¬159.5 million). This will bring a water treatment system, which will provide almost half of Northern Ireland's drinking water, into compliance with European Union standards and improve its quality.
Andritz Limited has worked closely with Earth Tech over a number of years supplying Filter Presses to water treatment sites at Derg, Mourne, Lough Macrory, Fofanny, Sulby and are currently working on projects at Douglas and Loftsome Bridge.
The Presses are to be supplied and installed over a period of 18 months, the first Press frame being installed at Ballinrees in December 2006.
