FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association) is a non-government funded organisation supported by members from all sections of the furniture industry. Established in 1961, FIRA is internationally recognised as the UK centre of excellence for research, testing, consultancy and complaint/dispute resolution.
To reflect the needs of the industry, FIRA ensures that the UK maintains at the forefront of research and innovation by developing new and better materials, improved processes and appropriate standards to enhance the quality of furniture. With unrivalled support from across the whole industry, FIRA also has the influence and capability to help shape legislation and regulations.
As a leading UKAS accredited furniture testing laboratory, FIRA’s UK based test facility is able to assess furniture, centring not only on the final products - tables, chairs, cabinets etc, but also the base components – fabric, foam, timber, chipboards etc…
FIRA also offer an amazing range of industry experts who offer help in numerous support services. These include two after sales services HST and The Furniture Ombudsman who are specialists in complaint & dispute resolution.
