Cuts in education....cause for celebration?
6 February 2007, News release from powerPerfector
It is not often that any form of cuts in Universities heralds good news, but when the seats of the learning are cutting CO2 and Energy Waste the reports are all A *********
Queen Mary, University of London
John Elam, a leading light in the field of Energy Saving and Best Practice within University Facility Management, is to install two further powerPerfector units, one each for the IT and LAWS blocks at Queen Mary University of London. This follows the phenomenal success of the original pP. installation two years ago in the University's Library.
Since installation the pP210Kva has reduced the average weekday consumption by over 14% and lowered maximum demand by -9.5%.
'At Queen Mary we installed a powerPerfector voltage optimization unit in our main library rated at 210kVA in 2004. This has worked extremely well with no problems and, as promised requiring no maintenance at all. The unit has paid for itself producing energy savings of around 12%. We are now progressing with two new installations this month in our Laws and IT buildings with some more planned in a later phase' John Elam, Facility Manager, QMU
