Balba Technologies launches new era in UV water disinfection
9 February 2006, News release from Balba Technologies Limited
Kings Lynn, Norfolk: Balba Technologies, a rising 'name' for the supply of innovative solutions for water treatment and purification, has announced the UK launch of the revolutionary Atlantium Rayo system.
The system, which has been developed by the Israeli company Atlantium Limited, is non-toxic and uses advanced technologies and fiber optic principles to overcome the significant drawbacks associated with traditional methods of water disinfection.
Especially valuable in the food and drink industries, the Atlantium Rayo solution is based around out-of-the-water UV light. This offers a number of advantages, not only over filtration and chemical based disinfection methods, which always run the risk of taint, but also over existing UV methods where the lamp is sited in the water.
Placing the lamp out of the water gives an unimpeded water flow, resulting in low head-loss and uniform UV dosage, and because no heat is generated in the water, it virtually eliminates fouling. The separation of electrical mechanisms and water simply render the whole operation more effective and much safer.
In place of conventional steel piping, the Atlantium Rayo uses a quartz tube, which acts both as a water pipe and an efficient light trap, reflecting the germicidal UV rays back into the water.
It is so powerful that it reaches one hundred percent of water-borne microbes. The dual sensor configuration measures lamp output directly as well as monitoring water UV transmittance to provide precise feedback for light intensity control.
Lester Young, Managing Director of Balba Technologies is delighted to have negotiated the exclusive UK marketing rights for the Atlantium Rayo system, saying :
" This new system tackles water treatment issues, especially those faced by beverage, general food and dairy product manufacturers, in a new and exceptionally cost-effective way, ensuring that the water used in every stage of the manufacturing processing is absolutely safe. Because of the simplicity of its operation and design, maintenance is negligible and down-time almost zero".
"He continued: " This new system of water purification is suitable for a wide range of applications, and I am expecting this to be reflected in the initial user interest."
