Announcing a major new collaboration: National Laboratory Service & Agilent Technologies
5 September 2008, News release from National Laboratory Service
The National Laboratory Service (NLS), a business unit of the UK Environment Agency and Agilent Technologies are delighted to announce a major new collaboration, which at its formation will see the launch of an environmental applications training programme for operators of Agilent's 6410 LC QQQ Mass spec systems.
This Master Class will take the form of a special 3 day LC-MS Environmental training programme, to be run at the NLS Centre for Analytical Research & Development in Llanelli, South Wales.
Training will focus on the Environmental analysis of flame retardants, veterinary medicines and pharmaceuticals in Environmental Waters according to EU monitoring requirements.
Delegates can expect practical sessions on instruments in the NLS Llanelli fully operational laboratory, comprehensive training in small groups and will leave with working methods for this type of work.
Interested parties can register for this programme online at: www.agilent.com/chem/QQQmasterclass.
Agilent Technologies and the NLS share a long-standing working partnership and this further collaboration is expected to deliver new and exciting benefits to customers of both organisations over the years to come.
Agilent Technologies is a world-wide leader in mass spectrometry, with powerful, reliable GC/MS, LC/MS and ICP-MS solutions for applications as diverse as discovery of cancer biomarkers and quantification of contaminants in soil and water. Agilent mass spectrometers work seamlessly with their industry-leading GC, LC, and CE separation technologies, sample preparation supplies and separation columns, and application-specific software. And they are backed by Agilent's legendary, world-wide service and support organisation.
The NLS is a leading provider of high quality environmental testing and analysis and has been the scientific nerve centre of the UK's environmental regulator, the Environment Agency for over 20 years. The NLS Centre for Analytical Research & Development, branded NLS Innovation, is a dedicated facility based in Llanelli that is focused entirely on developing new analytical methods, carrying out cutting-edge research and running high-end, development programmes for environmental scientists.
The NLS announced in 2007 an intention to move towards a more stand-alone business unit future, which is expected to increase the volume of commercial opportunities that it can attract. Working with partners like Agilent Technologies is expected to greatly enhance the products and services that the NLS is able to offer to customers of Environmental testing, analysis, research and development.
