Hello John, got a new motor?
8 April 2010, News release from Sustainabilitylive! 2010
Addressing green transport at Sustainabilitylive!
Wise John will visit Sustainabilitylive! April 20-22 at the NEC Birmingham before making any future purchasing decisions, whether buying just one car or a whole fleet of vehicles for his company, as for the first time, Sustainabilitylive! will include a focus on green transport.
Following central Government's recent announcement of a 25 per cent discount of up to £5,000 off the purchase price of the least polluting vehicles, effective from January 1, 2011, and with the promise of over 1,500 fully operational vehicle recharging points in London by Spring 2011, with a further 6,000 ready by 2013, John would be foolish to miss the opportunity presented by Sustainabilitylive!
Already the UK's largest gathering of environmental practitioners, the show this year also features a dedicated green transport element contained within Environmental Technology (ET). Exhibitors range from Birmingham University's hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, AEA Technology (Van Best Practice), the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and CABLED (Coventry & Birmingham Low Emission Demonstrators) is one of 8 UK projects successful in the Technology Strategy Board's Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator competition.
While the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership has organised an impressive line-up of speakers from Arval, British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association Committee, Car Plus, DfT Freight Best Practice Programme, Energy Saving Trust, National Business Travel Network and Professor Julia King of the Committee on Climate Change to discuss topics including greener fleet management and electric fleet vehicles.
Before leaving, John may also like to visit Stand Q15 to drool over the new Porsche Greenster 911 Targa. After all, as our Transport Secretary says: "Decarbonising transport isn't an aspiration - it's a reality."
